Leicester Predicted XI vs Leeds

Leicester City could leapfrog Manchester United and slide into second place in the Premier League table this afternoon with a win over Leeds. They are coming off the back of a draw against Everton and will be hoping that this time around they can secure all three points to keep their promising 2020/21 season running smoothly.

Jamie Vardy is currently out of action as he recovers from surgery on a hernia. Ayoze Perez filled the No.9 role in his absence against Everton, but he was unable to make the desired impact that Brendan Rodgers would have hoped for.

With all that in mind, Football FanCast has predicted how the Northern Irishman will line up his side to take on Leeds United this afternoon…

After Jonny Evans was substituted off the pitch due to a head injury, the long-awaited return of Caglar Soyuncu could be upon us. The Turkey international has missed a total of 17 matches this season due to a tear in the abductor muscle, but he has since made three cameo appearances and could be finally set for his first start since October, via Transfermarkt.

Similarly, Wilfred Ndidi was taken off through injury during the Everton clash. Rodgers said that the midfielder’s hamstring had “just tightened up”, but they didn’t want to risk it becoming worse than feared. This could warrant a precautionary benching for Ndidi, with Hamza Choudhury coming in to replace him.

Although Perez didn’t cut the mustard as a striker, it’s likely we will see him revert back to his natural right-wing role. Instead, Kelechi Inheanacho will likely come in during Vardy’s absence. He will have the support of James Maddison just behind him and Harvey Barnes on the left-wing.

Marc Albrighton had a disappointing game against Everton and could be demoted to the bench to sit this one out. According to Sofascore, he failed to put in a single accurate cross and lost all five of his attempted duels. He also gave up possession 17 times before he was hauled off the pitch in place of Cengiz Under.

This was out of character for the £45,000 per week midfielder, who often relishes in the challenge of switching up his positions on the pitch.

The Foxes will prepare to kick off at 2pm as they welcome Leeds United to the King Power Stadium.
